HAIR WITH FLAIR

I have been growing my hair out for the last year. I used to keep it cut in a chin length bob, a style which I love.

Last spring I decided I was going to grow it out. My hair grows super fast, and it's about half way down my back right now. I told my husband I don't want to cut it until it gets down to my butt. I'm not sure I will be able to stick to that because it's so thick that when it gets long it's heavy. Sometimes pulling it back in a ponytail will give me a headache!

I'm always looking for something new to do with my hiar. I was wearing my bob stacked in the back, ala Victoria Beckham,  way before Mrs. Beckham put it on the map. I was sporting the skunk look back in 2005. I am such a trend setter. Ok, not really, but that's what I tell myself so just go with it.

My newest hair obsession? Hair Tinsel. More specifically Hair Flairs. Sparkly pieces that you tie into your own hair. They have a video on the website that shows you how to tie them in. I'm not going to lie- it's kind of hard to get the hang of it. But it can be done. It's easier if you have someone else do it for you, though. Once tied in they can be washed, dried, curled, even flat ironed! The company says they lasts between 2 and 6 weeks. My experience is that if they are tied in properly that is probably pretty accurate. The secret is a tight knot, which takes practice. The ones I have in right now have been in for about three weeks, but the first ones I tied weren't very tight and only lasted about a week.  They come out when you naturally shed the hair that it's attached to (if they are tied right. Otherwise the knot just comes loose and they fall off). There are twenty colors available and they are inexpensive ($11 for 100!)

They also have feathers, but I'm not brave enough for those! (Yet)

Please note: This is my own personal review of a product that I use and like. This is not a compensated endorsement.

I really did love that hair cut, but once everyone started wearing it I got tired of it.

I cut my own hair, and it usually winds up looking like I've got a drunken barber. Oh, wait...I do.

Hair tinsel is cool. Too bad I'm too old for it. :-(

Neat! The feathers are really popular in Austin right now, especially in certain circles.. I think I know about 5 people that currently have them
