What a difference a day makes.

Brenna was born at about 19 weeks and 5 days. If she had been born at 20 weeks we would have gotten a birth certificate. Instead, she wasn't technically 20 weeks so she is considered a miscarriage. Two more days and she would have been still born. Are you kidding me?

Isn't that crazy? - I can not and will not call my loss a miscarriage... I can call my 6.5 and 13.5 weeks losses miscarriages but not Eli. I gave birth to him and you gave birth to Brenna. I say identify the loss in a way that is ok with your heart.

I was kind of annoyed by the paper thing at first but then I realized that piece of paper would not fill the void that Eli left. I did cry when I saw that the hospital had included a "certificate of life" at least acknowledging that he had been a living child, just not outside of me, but I was crying a lot at that point.

Here's to a great Sunday for you...

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter! She was beautiful. What a terrifying ordeal you have been through.

I live in PA. As of right now, I can't even get a birth certificate for my daughter who was born at 37 weeks. Their's legislation underway to change that, but it's so frustrating. All we want is for our children to be acknowledged, right?
