A few times I caught myself watching other families with toddlers. I wondered how our vacation would be different if we had a one-year-old with us. When we were waiting to board our train they let families with small children board first. I was angry because we should have been boarding with them. But we weren't. It didn't spoil my mood or anything. We still had fun. But I still thought about it plenty of times.
Deadbabyland is a shitty, shitty place to be.

Uhhh, I'm getting queasy just looking at that first picture! :S
Glad you had a great time despite all that's happened. Did you get a chance to check out the Shedd? That's hands-down my favorite thing to do there!
Shitty for sure! Its like hotel California, once you check-in there's no checking out.
I'm glad you and your family had a good trip. Your son has the coolest hair :)
We did go to Shedd's. In fact, the second picture was taken right outside of there. I love it there. It's the only thing we've ever done more than once in Chicago.
And Jen, my son's hair drives me INSANE! But, our deal was that as long as he gets good grades (A's or B's) that he can have his hair however he likes. He got all A's and one B so this is how he wants it. I think it's a fair trade. :)
Glad you are back and that you had a good trip!
I often wonder the same things while away, or while in the middle of a happy moment.
I too was in Chicago on Monday, but only for a layover. I love that city! It was nice to feel 73 degree temp---even if was only walking off the plane! ;)
